Village of Bokoi-Koiria, Dangha, Mali

VILLAGE: Bokoi-Koiria
COMMUNE: Dangha
CERCLE: Dire
GENERAL LOCATION: Along the banks of the Niger River further south from the village of Koiria
POPULATION: 1,333
STUDENTS (ages 6-12 years): 187
ETHNICITIES/LANGUAGES: Tamashek, Songhai, Bozo
VILLAGE HISTORY: Multi-ethnic village along the banks of the Niger River where also nomadic Bozo fisherman reside seasonally
LIVELIHOODS: Agriculture, goat-herding, and fishing
CTC INTERVENTION: Rehabilitate a very deteriorated 3-room cement school, provide operational support and implement a Female Adult Literacy program

Village of Nanga, Garbakoira, Mali

VILLAGE: Nanga
COMMUNE: Garbakoira
CERCLE: Dire
GENERAL LOCATION: Along the banks of the Niger River not far from the village of Koriome
POPULATION: 650
STUDENTS (ages 6-12 years): 110
ETHNICITIES/LANGUAGES: Tamashek, Songhay, Bozo
VILLAGE HISTORY: Village comprised of a number of nomadic communities including Bozo fisherman and Peul cattle-herders
LIVELIHOODS: Fishing, Agriculture and animal herding
CTC INTERVENTION: Built 3-room cement school in 2018-19, provided operational support, implemented Female Adult Literacy Program

Village of Koiria, Dangha, Mali

VILLAGE: Koiria

CERCLE: Dangha
GENERAL LOCATION: Along banks of Niger River past village of Bantam
POPULATION: 900
STUDENTS (ages 6-12 years): 120
ETHNICITIES/LANGUAGES: Tamashek, Songhay, Bozo
VILLAGE HISTORY: Old village dating back to 1700s
LIVELIHOODS: Fishing, agriculture, goat herding
CTC INTERVENTION: Built new 3-classooom school in 2017-18, provided operational support, implemented Female Adult Literacy program
