Caravan to Class rehabilitates school in the village of Bokoi-Koiria

For many reasons, we believe the village of Bokoi-Koiria was a good fit for our 2019-20 school project. It is a large village near one of the largest villages in the area, Dangha. Caravan to Class has successfully built schools in this part of the Timbuktu region. Our last five schools were built in this area: Samdiar, Kakondji, Bantam, Nanga and Koiria. Bokoi-Koiria is a mixed village of both Tuareg and Songhai with a population of roughly 900. We estimate that there are over 140 potential students. They have an existing school built 14 years ago that is in desperate need of repair. The village is poor and lacks funds to pay for teachers and provide nutrition for the children, a very important draw for parents to send their children to school.

We inaugurated the rehabilitated Bokoi-Koiria school in February 2020.
