LIVELIHOODS: Fishing, agriculture, goat herding
CTC INTERVENTION: Built new 3-classooom school in 2017-18, provided operational support, implemented Female Adult Literacy program

Village of Kabara San Fils, Alafia, Mali

VILLAGE: Kabara San Fils
COMMUNE: Alafia
CERCLE: Timbuktu
GENERAL LOCATION: 9 kilometers south of Timbuktu
POPULATION: 500
STUDENTS (ages 6-12 years): 100
ETHNICITIES/LANGUAGES: Black Tamashek (Bella)
VILLAGE HISTORY: Founded by displaced population of Bella from Timbuktu.
LIVELIHOODS: Livestock, agriculture and trade
CTC INTERVENTION: Built new 3-classroom school in 2016-2017

Village of Bantam, Dangha, Mali

VILLAGE: Bantam
COMMUNE: Dire
CERCLE: Dangha
GENERAL LOCATION: Along the banks of the Niger River, a few kilometers past the village of Kakondji.
POPULATION: roughly 700
STUDENTS (ages 6-12 years): roughly 110
ETHNICITIES/LANGUAGES: Songhay, Fulani, Bozo, and Tamashek
VILLAGE HISTORY: created in 1603 by a woman from Abawani Bourem Foghas in the Gao region
LIVELIHOODS: Agriculture (farming) and fishing
CTC INTERVENTION: Built new 3-classroom school in 2016-2017, provide operational support

Village of Kakondji, Dangha, Mali

VILLAGE:Kakondji
COMMUNE:Dire
CERCLE: Dangha
GENERAL LOCATION:Roughly 30 kilometers South-west of Timbuktu, on right bank of Niger River about 6 kilometers from the Commune of Dangha
POPULATION:2000
STUDENTS (ages 6-12 years):147
ETHNICITIES/LANGUAGES:Songhay, Peul, Bella (Tuareg Noir), Boz
VILLAGE HISTORY:According to manuscripts, created in the 13th century
LIVELIHOODS:Agriculture, fishing, and herding
CTC INTERVENTION:Built new 3-classroom school in 2015, provide support for teachers, food and school supplies
