Ms. Doussouba Konate talks with President Obama
“We have to change the narrative about how we talk about Africa and inspire young African leaders to want to drive change. There will always be challenges in my region but also there are some amazing things taking place.”
These powerful words were addressed to President Obama on stage by Ms. Doussouba Konate, Caravan to Class board member with responsibility for the Bourse Jackie University Scholarship Program. Ms. Konate, an Obama Foundation Young African Leader fellow, was chosen as a panelist at the Obama Foundation Global Democracy Forum, 2022.
President Obama gives remarks on the state of democracy around the world and the importance of a new generation of leaders to safeguard institutions and build a more sustainable future. He then joins a conversation with emerging Obama Foundation Leaders from across the globe.
Amongst our very own Ms. Konate on the panel representing as Africa Leader from Mali was
Introducer Gift Ostallous Siziba, Africa Leader,
Natalia Herbst, Argentina, Columbia Scholar,
Landing Kotaro, Palau, Asia-Pacific Leader,
Nick Antipode, Belarus, Europe Leader.
Caravan to Class is incredibly grateful to have Ms. Doussouba Konate as a mentor to our young female scholarship recipients.
